New Photo a Day project blog

I've decided to attempt P365 where I take one photo (at least) a day and choose one to represent the day.  I've started a new blog to showcase these photos and their descriptions so if you want to see it you can go to:

The throwdown...Snowman vs. Brant and the Wolverine Claw

The snow did not last long and the next morning only part of our snowman remained as any evidence that the snow was there the day before.  Brant really wanted to try out his new Wolverine claw that he got for Christmas so we went outside for him to play with it in the front yard.  I asked Brant if he wanted to use it to knock down the rest of the snowman once he saw that the head had already fallen off he was excited to do just that.  Brant proceeded to be a great photo subject and wait until Mommy got her camera ready then when he got the signal proceeded to stab the snowman with his claw trying to knock it down.  The snowman wasn't going to give in easily to this fight and Brant had to hack away at it little bits at a time.  Finally we turned it over with our foot and he hacked at it from another angle then started taking pieces of it with his hands and throwing it in the street like he was participating in a snowball fight.  He then proceeded to stamp out what remained of the snowman with his feet since his claw was wet and he didn't want to get it any more wet or dirty.  He had a lot of fun and was so animated it was hilarious to watch, and I had to keep from laughing too much while he worked so he wouldn't think I was laughing at him (though indeed it would seem I was). He always knows how to have a good time.

More Snow?

I couldn't believe it when it snowed again today a few days after Christmas.  The snow was so pretty and light and probably wouldn't last long so after Brant woke up from his nap we went outside to make a snowman with the pretty powdery snow.  Brant had a hard time making it into balls so I made a larger ball and he helped add more snow to it to make our snowman.  We wanted to decorate this snowman so we went inside for some supplies.  I colored two water bottle lids with black sharpie for the eyes, and we took the nub end off of one of the carrots we had left over (that were for Santa's reindeer) for the nose.  We were going to use a piece of red ribbon for the mouth but it wouldn't stay on so our snowman just had eyes and a nose so he couldn't talk back. ;) I broke off a branch from one of our bushes to use for an arm and Brant proceeded to tell me that snowmen have two arms, and I told him I was going to get another branch.  Once we put both branches into the snowman I realized I hadn't taken the leaves off of the branches so I asked Brant if he wanted me to take the leaves off.  Brant insisted that he liked the twigs with the leaves on it so our snowman has some hairy leafy arms.   It continued to snow the whole time we were making our snowman so it was a little hard to capture great pictures without lots of little white dots zooming accross the photos, but I did manage to get some.  Here are the pictures of our snowman adventure.

White Christmas Day!

Yep, the snow/ice mix stuck around so we had our first ever WHITE Christmas this year here in Texas!  I'm so excited it really felt more festive this year with the snow outside that we so rarely see.  Brant got up this morning and was thrilled to discover the amazing amount of presents that Santa had brought for him along with a family gift of a new 32 inch flat screen TV and a Wii for the family to play on.  We all opened our items from our Santa in our stocking and those that Brant had sitting out he went through and had a huge smile when he discovered that Santa did bring him the bakugan toys that he promised him in the video message he got from the North Pole.  Santa really went all out this year and we had  a great time looking through everything before opening our gifts to each other.  Brant was overjoyed when he saw that he got his own i-pod touch handed down to him from Mommy (thanks again Grandma for giving it to Mommy) since Mommy plans on getting an iPhone when her phone is eligible for an upgrade in a few months.  We had fun opening toys and playing together, then Brant and I went outside so he could play in the snow.  There was an icy layer over the snow so it was really hard to try to make a snowman so Mommy made a tiny one and had Brant pose next to it before he begged to throw a snowball at it to knock it down.  We were supposed to go to Aunt Mo's house around 11 to celebrate Christmas with Mommy's side of the family but the roads were yucky so we postponed it an hour to let the roads melt a little more.  We had a lot of fun at Aunt Mo's house we had some brunch and openened presents.  Brant helped Riley open his presents and then "helped" Riley play with his toys by playing with them himself  "to show him how".  The boys had fun with Grandpa and Brant wrestled around with him.  Then it was time to head home for a nap and down time before getting a chance to play with some of the gifts that we got for Christmas.  It was an amazing Christmas for us this year, and we are so very blessed to have all the wonderful people in our life and be able to celebrate Christ's birth with giving gifts to each other in remembrance.  I really look forward to next year when my new niece or nephew will be here to celebrate with us.
